Southern Living's Cranberry sauce recipe featuring monk's road bourbon whiskey

It wouldn’t be Christmas dinner without cranberry sauce. Forget the jiggly canned kind. Southern Living’s recipe puts a classic twist on a traditional dish. This easy-to-make recipe can be left simmering on the stove and allow you to focus on spending time with family or preparing the rest of your Christmas dinner. We have a good feeling this will become a family favorite all year round. 


  • 2 (12 oz) packs fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup orange juice 
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3-4 tbsp Monk’s Road Fifth District Series Bourbon Whiskey
  • Optional: orange or lemon zest 


Place all ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Boil until cranberries start to burst and sauce begins to thicken about 10-12 minutes. Let cool before serving.
